Buddhist pendant depicts the eyes of the Buddha. The eyes belong to the Adibuddha, more popularly known as the meditating Buddha. The nose is in the shape of the number one in Newar language, native to a tribe in Nepal. Surrounding the eyes, is the Buddhist mantra - Om Mani Padme Hum. The most frequently used Mantra in Buddhism, the syllable "Om" represents body, spirit and the speech of Buddha; "Mani" is for the path of teaching; "Padme" for the wisdom of the path, and "hum" indicates to the union of wisdom and the path to it. The pendant is in the shape of a lotus. One of the eight symbols of good fortune, the Lotus flower represents purity of mind. Tibetan Buddhist mystics imagined the earth floating like a lotus flower on the oceans of the universe. Besides Tibetan Buddhism, the lotus symbol usually in a stylized form is one of the primary symbols of Buddhism. The pendant measures about inches in diameter and has rustic finish.
