Buddha is depicted in meditation pose sheltered by a Naga (snake), its body coiled up to serve as a cushion for the Buddha. Naga has its origin in Hinduism, as a snake like animal and can be seen associated with Lord Vishnu. According to legend, the Naga once tried to harm the Buddha, but was subdued and became one of the Buddha's disciples and guardians. The Buddha statue measures about 9.5 inches tall and 6 inches wide and has a serene stone finish.
