One of the eight symbols of good fortune, the Conch Shell represents the glory of the teaching of Buddha. The sound created by the shell is thought to spread the enlightenment of the Buddha everywhere in the world. Created by nature and not human hands, it is one of the oldest ritual objects in Buddhism. Beautiful and sophisticated jewelry has traditionally been an important part of Tibetan daily life. It reflects the traditions of Buddhism and Hinduism with regards to using jewelry as a metaphor for ideals or faith. Tibetan jewelry is often large, elaborately designed and exuberant in color. This jewelry was handcrafted by Tibetan refugees living in Nepal. Handcrafted: Skillfully created by artisans. Naturally occurring variations in color, shape and size may be present, adding to the individual beauty of each piece.
