The Vitarka Mudra is a gesture in which the forefinger touches the thumb. This mudra represents the transmission of knowledge by Buddha after he obtained enlightenment. Thus, it is also known as the Teaching Mudra. The gesture is beautifully rendered in this handcrafted pendant necklace. The mudra is first carved from wax and then cast in sterling silver, imbuing the pendant with an organic hand-molded look. The pendant is then topped off with a genuine pearl bead that has been dyed a dark slate color. Hand measures about .875 inches long and .25 inches wide. Pearl bead is about 4 mm. Necklace’s chain is 16.5 to 18.5 inches long with an adjustable length. Chain is sterling silver and finished with black patina. Made in the USA.
