Round in shape, this zafu meditation cushion comes in heathered blue chambray with a pleated gusset and a fabric handle stitched to the side. Buckwheat hulls inside settle around the body for firm, contoured support that raises the hips and lets the spine stack naturally. Set it on a mat, in a reading nook, or at the foot of the bed.

Meaning & Intention

The zafu takes its name and shape from a centuries-old meditation tradition, its round silhouette echoing the circle as a symbol of wholeness and continuity.

To sit upon one is to take a seat in a lineage of stillness practice that reaches back generations, long before cushions were bought rather than sewn by hand.

The buckwheat hull fill has its own meaning. Unlike foam, it does not resist the body but settles around it, hull by hull — a small physical lesson in yielding rather than forcing.

Rendered in soft chambray blue, the cushion recalls calm waters and open sky, colors long associated with clarity of mind and ease of breath.

Its symbolism lives in its function: a humble, steady base for sitting down.

Essence & Elements

Intention: Balance, peace, grounding, calm

Chakra connection: Root

Symbol: Circle of wholeness and continuity

Ideal for: Meditators, yoga practitioners, and anyone building a daily seated mindfulness practice

Suggested mantra: I sit, I settle, I breathe

Questions & Guidance

Is this cushion good for beginners?

Yes. The added height and stable base make it easier to hold proper posture and pelvic alignment, which is especially helpful when you are new to seated meditation.

How should I sit on it?

Sit toward the front edge so the hips tip slightly forward and rise above the knees. This lets the spine stack naturally and eases pressure on the lower back during longer sits.

Can I use it for anything besides meditation?

Yes. It works well for pranayama practice, floor seating in a reading corner, or as a seat at an altar or ritual space. The side handle makes it simple to move between rooms.

Too big

The boxes were much bigger than I thought they would be and seemed to be lacking in the quality I'm used to seeing in your products. I have returned both boxes via UPS and am awaiting my refund.

Understated design, well made

I wanted a simple reminder to take a moment to breathe throughout the day. This ring tells me to do just that. It's solid stainless steel, so it's durable. The embossing (engraving?) is clear and consistent from one letter to the next.
