Meaning & Intention

Known in Sanskrit as Bhaisajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha is revered across Buddhist tradition as the embodiment of healing wisdom.

In his left hand he cups a bowl of medicinal nectar, said to dissolve the root causes of physical and mental suffering. In his right, he holds a sprig of myrobalan, an herb long used in Ayurvedic and Tibetan medicine.

The lotus pedestal beneath him is the traditional symbol of purity rising untouched from muddy water, suggesting that clarity and wellness can emerge from difficult conditions.

In practice he is invoked not for magical cures but as a focus for intention — an approach to health, one's own and others', through patience and steady attention.

Essence & Elements

Intention: Healing, wisdom, balance, renewal

Chakra connection: Heart

Symbol: Medicine Buddha, elixir bowl, myrobalan branch, lotus pedestal

Ideal for: Building a healing or meditation space, or gifting comfort to someone on a health journey

Suggested mantra: May all beings be well

Questions & Guidance

Where is the best place to keep this statue?

Anywhere you want a pause for care — a home altar, meditation corner, healing room, or desk. Facing a place you sit or breathe is more useful than a specific direction.

Is it a fitting gift for someone unwell or recovering?

Yes. Traditionally the Medicine Buddha is offered as a focus for patient, attentive healing rather than a promise of cure, which makes it a considered gift for recovery or a wellness milestone.

How can I use it in a meditation practice?

Sit within sight of the statue, settle the breath, and silently offer the mantra 'May all beings be well.' Let the elixir bowl in his hand cue the wish you are extending outward.

Too big

The boxes were much bigger than I thought they would be and seemed to be lacking in the quality I'm used to seeing in your products. I have returned both boxes via UPS and am awaiting my refund.

Understated design, well made

I wanted a simple reminder to take a moment to breathe throughout the day. This ring tells me to do just that. It's solid stainless steel, so it's durable. The embossing (engraving?) is clear and consistent from one letter to the next.
