A bamboo tablet engraved with the eleven-circuit Chartres labyrinth and the words "Be Here Now" in flowing script. Tracing its single winding path with the included wood stylus is a form of moving meditation in miniature, drawing attention back to the present. Keep it on a desk, nightstand, or altar for a few unhurried minutes between tasks.

Meaning & Intention

The pattern here is not a maze meant to confuse but a labyrinth meant to lead you home. Its design is drawn from the one set into the floor of Chartres Cathedral in the 12th century, one of the most walked contemplative paths in the world.

Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has a single winding route to its center and back out. There are no wrong turns, only the turns themselves.

Tracing the path with the stylus is a very old form of moving meditation, scaled to the hand. Each curve pulls attention away from planning and rehearsing and back into the sensation of wood gliding over wood.

The engraved words Be Here Now name the whole exercise. Not an instruction to force stillness, but a nudge back to the present each time your finger meets the tablet.

Questions & Guidance

How do I use it?

Rest the stylus at the path's opening and guide it slowly along the grooves toward the center, then trace the same path back out. Let attention settle on the motion rather than the destination.

Can I use something other than the wood stylus?

Yes. Many people prefer the smoother glide of a pen's ballpoint end, its capped back, or a thin dry paintbrush. Experiment to find the pace that suits your practice.

When is a good time to use it?

A few minutes before a meeting, after a difficult conversation, or as part of a nightly wind-down are natural moments to sit with it.

Can I trace the path with my finger?

Yes. The engraved grooves are finger-traceable, which some find even more grounding than using the stylus.

So so

The stylus that arrived with this was not the one shown in the photo. The one that came was thinner and flimsy and different shape.

The cut in the wood is not very deep so it’s hard the keep the stylus from going out of the tracks. Also the tracks are not smooth/sanded so the wood grain is scratchy and unpleasant with a “fingernails on a chalkboard” sound as you try to move the stylus along the track.

To me it’s useless as a tracing tool and frustrating rather than calming m but I will just set it on the shelf as a decoration because it is pretty.

It does smell nice though.

Cute as a Knick-knack, but not good for what it’s advertised as.

Bamboo Meditation Labyrinth With Stylus

I use the Labyrinth as a kind of first aid kit to help me calm down, to be present and focus. It's very useful.

A gift for a friend

I purchased this as a gift for a friend to help her get started on a new meditation journey. I love it! I've yet to deliver it to her to see what she thinks, but for me, it's exactly what I wanted for her. I just hope she loves it as much as I do. The next purchase will be one for myself.
