This tabletop terrarium holds a seated Buddha in a wooden dough bowl, surrounded by preserved moss, river stones, and a living air plant, with a polished stone hand-lettered Gratitude. The arrangement is built around one intention: thanks, named and kept in view. Place it on a coffee table, console, or meditation altar — or gift it for a housewarming or fresh start.

  • Included: Wooden bowl, Buddha figurine, gratitude stone, preserved moss, pebbles, and a live air plant, pre-arranged and ready to display

Meaning & Intention

The seated Buddha holds the dhyana mudra — hands in the lap, palms upturned — a posture linked with deep meditation since the earliest Buddhist art.

Around him, moss and stone borrow the older language of zen gardens: pebbles standing in for mountains, moss for forests, the bowl for a contained world.

In Buddhist thought, gratitude is not a polite feeling but a recognition — of breath, shelter, and the unseen kindnesses that hold a life together.

Many people use the stone as a tactile anchor: turning it in the palm, naming three things that are working, then setting it back among the moss.

Think of the bowl as a small garden of attention, tended with the habit of looking up.

Questions & Guidance

Does the terrarium arrive assembled?

Yes. The bowl, Buddha, gratitude stone, moss, pebbles, and air plant come pre-arranged and ready to set down and display.

Is the moss real or preserved?

The moss is preserved and decorative. It needs no water or sunlight, just an occasional light dusting.

How do I use it in a gratitude practice?

Pick up the stone in the morning, turn it in your palm, and name three things you are thankful for. Set it back among the moss and begin the day.

Who is it a good gift for?

It suits a housewarming, retirement, thank-you, or recovery gift, especially for someone who meditates or is building a gratitude habit.

Namo Buddha

The Buddha Terrarium is so beautiful and calming. The different colored moss and an absolutely gorgeous air plant brings out the beauty of this work of art. I bought two, one for myself and one as a gift. Very much appreciated. Thank you Buddha Groove

Great looking- mostly

The Zen terrarium is very nice. Plenty to fill the nice wooden bowl. My only issue is that the air fern is not healthy and I don’t think it will survive. I followed soaking directions but it didn’t look great when I received it. I have several air ferns that are doing fine.
