Seated brass Shakyamuni Buddha in the bhumisparsha, or earth-touching, pose, with a small alms bowl in his upturned left palm. The robe and lotus-petal base are hand-inlaid with a mosaic of turquoise, coral-red, and deep blue stone chips. One hand calls on the earth as witness; the other offers blessing. Set it on a meditation altar, mantle, or shelf.
